Wednesday, January 1, 2025  -  First day to apply for a ballot by mail using Application for a Ballot by Mail   Voters must reapply each year.

Thursday, April 3, 2025  -  Last day to register to vote in May 3, 2025 election

Monday, April 21 to Tuesday, April 29, 2025  -  Early Voting

Tuesday,  April 22, 2025  -  Last day to apply for Ballot by Mail 
(Received, not postmarked)


Saturday, May 3, 2025  -  Election Day and last day to receive Ballot by Mail.

November 4, 2025

Monday, October 6, 2025  -  Last day to register to vote in November 4, 2025 election

Monday, October 29   to Friday, October 31, 2025  -  Early Voting

Friday,  October 24, 2025  -  Last day to apply for Ballot by Mail

The Hays County Elections Office has moved to 120 Stagecoach Trail (at the corner of Stagecoach Trail and Hunter Road). Voting will be at the new Elections Office for both Early Voting and Election Day voting this fall.  Please Note: The mailing address for the Hays County Elections Office is still at the Government Center, 712 South Stagecoach Trail, San Marcos, TX 78666.

Do you Have the Correct ID?

 

Choose one of these to take to the polls.


 1. Texas Driver's License
 2. Texas Election Certificate
 3. Texas Personal ID Card
 4. Texas Handgun License
 5. US Citizen Certificate with photo
 
6. US Military ID card with Photo
 7. US Passport or Card


Note: A student ID card is not an allowable voter ID.

Older Voters and Voter IDs

● For voters aged 70 or older, an acceptable form of identification may be an expired Drivers License for any length of time, if the identification is otherwise valid. 

No longer driving?

● If you have or want to surrender your Texas Driver License and/or received a personal ID card from DPS, make sure you say that the information should be used for voter registration. When you do that the information is submitted to the Secretary of State and updated in the voter registration database. 

● The voter can confirm that this updated number has been applied to his or her voter registration record by logging in to the SOS portal with the new personal ID number. Secretary of State Voter Website

What if you don't have one of those IDs?

Here is a list of the supporting forms of ID that can be presented if the voter does not possess one of the forms of acceptable photo ID and cannot reasonably obtain one:

•  copy or original of a government document that shows the voter’s name and an address, including the voter’s voter registration certificate;
•  copy of or original current utility bill;
•  copy of or original bank statement;
•  copy of or original government check;
•  copy of or original paycheck; or
• copy of or original of (a) a certified domestic (from a U.S. state or territory) birth certificate or (b) a document confirming birth admissible in a court of law which establishes the voter’s identity (which may include a foreign birth document).


After presenting one of the forms of supporting ID listed above, the voter must complete a Reasonable Impediment Declaration.
