Who Can Vote in a Runoff Election?
All registered voters in Texas are eligible to vote in the primary runoff election. If the voter cast a ballot in the Democratic primary, they must vote in the Democratic primary runoff election. The same goes for voters who voted in the Republican primary, they must vote in that party's runoff race. Voters cannot change which party they want to vote for in the runoff election.
Voters are eligible to vote in the runoff election even if they did not vote in the primary election.
When is the Texas Primary runoff elections
The Texas primary runoff election is on
Tuesday, May 26. Early voting starts on
Monday, May 18 and goes until Friday, May 22.
The last day to register to vote for the runoff primary election is
April 27. If you are not sure if you are registered to vote, you can check your voter registration status on the Secretary of State's website.
What is a Runoff Election?
Candidates must secure more than 50% of the vote to advance directly to the General Election in November, or the top two candidates lead into a runoff election — or a second election — to be certified as the winner.
